   Is there anyway to confirm that update services have acually been
   pinged when a new post has been made at my blog.

   Is there an update ping log created in the database?

   Thanks for any clarification.

   There is no log created.
   The best way is to check the services - or use a feed aggregator and get your own feed. Then run a check on your blog name at http://www.feedster.com and get that into the aggregator.
   Post, give it a few minutes then check the feedster feed.

   Or just accept that it has indeed sent a ping which has been received :)
