   This is probably a dumb question, but I really need to know the answer.

   I just upgraded to the latest version of WP.

   I have a list of about 20 sites I ping everytime I post.

   When I click publish, there is practically no delay anymore.

   Does the latest version of WP have a new feature that doesn't delay your posts when you ping?

   Pinging and other things like this now happen as a background process (of a sort..) . Regardless, there should be no wait while they occur anymore.
