It there such a thing as a ping command that you can just put into your browser to notifiy the search engines and blog directories of your updates?

Does Google have a certain Ping command?
    Yahoo?
    MSN?

What is the difference between doing this and just placing certain URL in wordpress? How can I find more? Some of the pings on the list I had 1/2 don't even work?

    Look under your admin page

Then options >> Writing. At the bottom is a section called Update Services. What ever is entered there will be pinged each time you post a new entry.

This is another service that pings multple services

Thanks for the info, but does

    Like this:

I'd like to start ping through my browser to let the search engines know I have updated my content.

  4. Search engines to do not accept pings. If you read your access logs you should see that their bots visit your site anywhere between ten to a hundred times per day. That should be enough.
