[resolved] Pinboard theme - menu levels (10 posts)

    Just started to play around a little bit with the pinboard theme. Curiously enough in the standard menu bar the menus aren't deep enough. I put my twenty eleven child theme back so I can describe the problem. At http://www.martienvanwanrooij.nl in the menu there is a link "hobby's" - a sublink "koken" leads to "recepten" and underneath "recepten" you find some recipes. The problem is that in the Pinboard theme (or child theme) the links to these recipes are not visible anymore. BTW I call it "menu levels" but it is not a custom menu, rather the page listing that is done automatically both in twentyeleven and in pinboard.

    Things you'll need to do to resolve this;
    - Create a Child Theme.
    - Copy the header.php file from Pinboard & paste into your Child Theme directory.
    - Edit that header.php in your Child Theme directory.
    - Look for the function wp_nav_menu.
    - Change its parameter depth to 4.

    Thank you Andrew, the php code says
    <?php wp_nav_menu( array( 'theme_location' => 'primary_nav' ) ); ?`>
    do you mean y should add a depth parameter to it?

    Yes, add a depth of 4.

    Thank you Andrew it is working now with the pinboard child theme. First I thought it didn't work even after adding my depth parameter but that was because the whole hobby's item was too much towards the right and there was simply no "room" for showing the recipe list within the div :)

    Nice work, now you can make modifications to the Child Theme's CSS and add new styles that override the theme's original styles.

    Yes that is why I like this Child Theme option, but I wanted to resolve the issue with the disappearing menu items first of all, I wanted to be sure that the technical working of the site was okay so now it is time for a new look and feel

    I am in doubt if I should open a new forum topic now, as the menu depth issue has been resolved but I am now facing another problem. In the examples / samples of pinboard I see a rather large image that obviously belongs to the header but when I go to my dashboard the header image should not be higher than 48 px... Suggestions are welcome again

    MartienWPR, it sounds as though this issue is different than the opening issue. We encourage opening threads for different issues, it helps keep track of the amount and different types of issues you experience.

    Ok I will certainly do that, and I will change the status of my initial question as resolved.
