pimping up free themes? newbie

    Hi,
    I see many free themes that i active for my site are lite versions of premium scripts that have all the functionality.

    Is it generally possible to pimp up these templates later when i know more about WP, or are they locked

    I’m not sure what you mean by “pimping,” but free themes from the WP repository are not locked. You can modify them any way you want — if you know what you are doing. See theme development for more info.

    Themes from other places may or may not function the same way — you’d have to check the specifics from the sites.

    Also check that free themes from other website are licenced as GPL and do not have licence restrictions, some themes are free providing you leave the credit and the authors adsense block in the footer!

    All themes from this website can be modified how ever you want, that is one of the requirements.
