I have no idea where to find out which version I am using so help with that would help. and the main reason for posting this is because i am having problems uploading and cropping images to my blog so that i can customize the theme i use and add pics to my posts. no matter what i try i.e., cropping first or not I can't get it to work all that happens is that i am told it failed and to try again. well that is tedious and hasn't worked. so what can i do? thanks

Try looking in the bottom right of any Admin page.
Have you tried:
- deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
- switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?
- resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.
- re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress?
