Pictures don't display in Archive or Category vie (13 posts)

    I made a post containing a picture that I had uploaded. Curiously, in Archive or Category view, the post displays, but won't display the picture!
    The post is still on the blog's front page, and when viewed from the front page, the picture displays fine.
    Anyone here like solving this mystery?
    **A related issue?** Beneath each post, between "General" and "No Comments," there used to be an "Edit" option. Not there anymore.
    (FYI, I'm using WP 1.2.1 and the latest Kubrick template on my local machine, viewing it through Firefox. Recently I changed <pre>define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');</pre> from localhost to '127.0.0.1', and back. I've also deleted the localhost cookie, blocked it, and blocked it.)

    This post really should've been posted to "TROUBLESHOOTING." It's still a question for me, though.

    The image has gone because you have specified a relative url
    <img src="images/picture.jpg">
    You can either:
    1. Use a base url in your header
    http://wordpress.org/support/5/10561
    or
    2. Use an absolute url when posting an image
    <img src="http://www.mydomain.com/blog/images/picture.jpg">'

    The other issue:
    <?php edit_post_link(); ?>`
    Check that is in the index, somewhere around the date normally.

    podz, thanks for the response.
    I am posting images with absolute URI's. In fact, I just copy & paste the URI returned by WP after I upload. (For example,
    <img src="http://localhost/wordpress/wp-content/x40sideleft.jpg" alt="x40 Left Side" />.

    However, images still don't appear in Archives or Categories view. (I'll add that images appear correctly when browsing the Comments view, and on the front page. )
    The "edit post" issue: This resolved itself once I blew away my cookies, then specifically allowed localhost and 127.0.0.1 to set cookies.

    Odd.
    If you View Source when looking at one of those views, does the code look good ?

    Hmm... the code for on the problem pages doesn't look good. Any reference to the image is missing. Here's what it looks like:

    <div class="post">
    <h3 id="post-14">x40 Side Shot</h3>
    <small>Tuesday, October 12th, 2004</small>
    <div class="entry">
    I’m testing an issue with pictures: in Archive and Categry views, the picture in a post doesn’t display. It’ll display correctly when the post is viewed from the blog’s front page, though. Here’s the picture:
    If you don’t see it . . .
    </div>
    <p class="postmetadata">Posted in General | Edit | No Comments »

    </div>

    Odd, indeed.

    Can you post your css anywhere for us to have a look at ?
    Not here as it will be unreadable, use http://paste.uni.cc/ and let us know the url you are given if nothing else.

    I think the answer you are refering to lies in this FAQ
    http://binarybonsai.com/archives/2004/09/06/kubrick-v125-faq/
    The very last faq posted on the page.
    I think.

    Curious. Did that resolve the issue?

    Anonymous,
    That did resolve the issue! It didn't even occur to me, to consult the Kubrick FAQ. On line 229 in index.php, I just changed <?php the_excerpt() ?> to <?php the_content('Read the rest of this entry »'); ?>.
    I can't tell you what a great user-experience I've had so far with WordPress (compared to the others I've tried, or tried to try, such as Movable Type and Bloxsom).
    In large part, I attribute it to the amazing, amazing community here. Thanks so much for coming to my help like this, podz and "anonymous."

    Hey Tri,
    I was anon, forgot to login...glad that was the solution. After the millions of questions I've asked, I finally helped someone ;)
    I'm with you on the WP community. For a freebie, this is the best. And there are some of the best on here, such as Podz.
    (whispers - I said that because I'm butterin' up Podz for my next question ;) )
