   i just started my second blog and in setting it up i noticed the pics and links dont show on the main page. my first blog shows pics and links and i set up the admin exactly like the first blog. can anyone help me?

   I am having the exact same problem...pics will not appear...only text.

   Don't think I know enough about excerpts to help, hopefully someone else can?

   If in a template file (be it index, archive, category etc.) the_excerpt tag is used instead of the_content... then read:
   http://codex.wordpress.org/Template_Tags/the_excerpt
   (very first section - Description!)
