hi, I want to add a picture to the right sidebar using the whitespace theme by brian gardener. (like similar to the bees picture on this site: http://turbulence.org.uk/)
if i put the html code (<img src="..."/> in the "r_sidebar.php", the picture is not shown. do i have to change something in the style.css?

Make sure you only use full (absolute) urls.
