Picture in sidebar
-
When i try to put a picture in my sidebar (with the <img scr=”..”> tag) i get this thing:
http://www.dakzoekje.nl/download/picwrong.gif
The path to the picture is right, what do i wrong?

Double-check the spelling of the image, and make sure it’s not a .jpg or .png instead of a .gif file.
Spelling is correct, and it doesn’t matter if i use .gif or .jpg. I really doesn’t understand how i can fix this.
how are you calling the image? what code are you using? images really need height and width defined so that it renders correctly. ie
[img src=”image path.jpg” width=”80px” height=”50px” alt=”description of image” /]
Also if you’re inserting it via template, and not your post, you may need to stipulate the absolute path:
http://yourdomain.com/wp-images/yourimagename.jpg
for it to work. I’ve found that some templates work with relative paths ie: /wp-images/yourimage.jpg and others don’t.
oops sorry
HELP! I have tried everything!
<img src=”http://public_html/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/dpatdesk070822.jpg” alt=”Smile!” />
How it came off my server, then replaced the Underscore with a dot/period in the public_html folder. (See Below.)
<img src=”http://public.html/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/dpatdesk070822.jpg” alt=”Smile!” />
The “Smile!” shows, but no .jpg 😕TIA, DP
I just added “mydomain.com” after http:// both ways, … still nothing, but ‘alt’ i.e. Smile!
Is your picture still in place?
At http://www.dakzoekje.nl/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/dpatdesk070822.jpg
??No shadow, I have not got picture to show yet.
dpgatten.com
Pardon me! Yes, it is still in the ‘upload’ under ‘manage’
It should be at:
http://dpgatten.com/public_html/wp-includes/images/DPAtDesk070822.jpgThis is how I have it in the widget:
<img src=”http://dpgatten.com/public_html/wp-includes/images/DPAtDesk070822.jpg” alt=”Smile!” />The Smile! shows in sidebar, but no picture.
Any Ideas?
Just a NuBee! TIA,DPSo is this the picture you are trying to show?
http://www.dpgatten.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/dpatdesk070822.jpg
Yes sir!
BTW! I added more above your post.
It is at:
http://dpgatten.com/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2007/09/DPAtDesk070822.jpgalso, where it shows up in the admin/manage/upload
Ok, so use that url I just used [above] and it should show your picture…
EUREKA! Tnx Bunches! What was I doing wrong? It is there now!
Basically you were calling the picture from the wrong place.
You do not have to include the /public_html at all in most instances.
Thank You again Shadow, I guess we can call this one ‘Resolved’
