Hi there, I have a static web site and need to display the home page as a static home page.. not a post! when I delete "hello world" then the page displays "Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here"
I thought I had erased something from the theme so have installed the whole thing again! help - can someone tell me how to show my home page instead?
any help much appreciated as my php is limited :(

I am assuming that your WordPress is installed to your root directory for your domain. As in: http://example.com leads to your WP site.
You CAN set your home/first page to a static Page in such a case, but you need to first create the Page in the WP Admin panel and then in Settings click on Reading and set the front page/home page to the Page you just created.

OMG I just did school pick up thinking "theres no way im going to finish this site on time!" I was contemplating an evening of wading thru php I know too little about..
Thank you so much - and I cant believe I missed that little radio button lol.. there is a lot to be said for not working when you are tired huh.
