php link

I have found a few php files to help insert a slideshow of pictures from a designated folder into my sidebar. My question is simple i hope, once you upload a php, how do you run the php from a text widget in the sidebar.
This link seemed really easy but i’ve tried many things and i can not get it to work. Thanks.
