Photos not displaying on posts

I just installed wordpress on my site and cannot get it to display photos on blog posts. Instead it displays text and link to the photo.

I’m a little rusty, haven’t been working with WordPress so much for the past year or so until changing jobs recently. Now I’ll be using it all the time.

I uninstalled wordpress and reinstalled it on this site today. Could it be the theme causing it? Changing themes hasn’t helped me so far though.

Help please.
