Before and after activating photon I see the following in the dashboard of W3 Total Cache under Google Speed Score
The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 1.6MiB (91% reduction).

http://i0.wp.com/music.taliferro.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/The-Right-Notes2.jpg?fit=800%2C9999 is resized in HTML or CSS

Any ideas how to fix this?

Do you know how to optimize your images using tools like imageoptim?

Negative . . . no luck . . . Google seems to think that the images are not optimized . . . I get two errors from Google

    Serve scaled images
    Optimize images

So I don't know what Photon is doing other than serving the images as is without the optimization of EWWW Image Optimizer.

    Page Speed Score: 37/100

    Serve scaled images
    Optimize images
Serve resources from a consistent URL

google thinks the images are not optimized because they are not,
photon is serving the non-optimized versions of the files.
You can check this by opening an image through photon, check the size and than go to library and you will see that the optimized image is smaller.
    I have the same problem.
