Photo uploader and tags not working (4 posts)

I recently purchased a site, transferred it to my host, installed WordPress, uploaded the database and rebuilt the site.

Since I did this, the visual photo uploader does not work in the back end. When I click on the icon nothing happens or, if my cursor is in the post editor, it will move to the headline editor.

Tags do not work either. Simply, I can type words into the tag box, but when I hit the add button -- nothing.

I had some other problems with the XML import, but that isn't my biggest concern at the moment. However, in the instance they're related, here's what happened.

When I imported the XML, none of the authors were attached to their original posts. Every post now has a new author (me). None of the tags transferred either.

I've done these things to try to remedy the problems with no luck.

    1. Transferred the site back to its original host, downloaded the XML myself and uploaded it when I transfered the site back to my host. I also checked to see both were running the same version of WordPress (they are). The issues did not go away.
    2. Got the MySQL database from the original site and uploaded that instead of the XML. The issues did not go away.
    3. Rebuilt the site in a separate folder with a fresh version of WordPress that I installed myself. The build worked, but the issues did not go away.

I'm frustrated as hell and at a complete loss. We should have been working on ad deals and churning content, but we've been dicking around with WordPress for two weeks.

    Please help.

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    - resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

I tried the two plugin suggestions. Still have the same problems with all plugins, some plugins or no plugins.

Will have to discuss a new theme with someone else. I'm not a designer.

    Any other suggestions?

I misunderstood. Everything worked fine in the Twenty Eleven theme, so it's obviously a problem with the theme I have installed, which is Newsy.
