  • Hi, since 3 days my photo upload doesn’t work anymore, can anyone help me?

It just shows the name of the picture as a text but does not upload anything. all plugins and WP is updated. What could it be?

  • -deactivating all plugins
-switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

and then check the upload function, is it working?
If it is first switch back to your theme and test again, if it’s not working then it is a theme issue if it still works start activating your plugins one by one to see which is causing the issue.

if the issue persists even if you have no plugins activated and you activate a default theme, let us know.

    Hi jnhghy,

Thanks a lot. Before I do all of this, I just got an info that there is a bug at WP 3.9 that causes this issues with the media upload. Is that true? Anyone heard about that?

How can I solve that, if it is a WP problem?

Hey , Its 3.9.1 right , i think its not that much problematic, I haven’t uploaded any media yet but i was planning to.
Since you have left a question here they will come to know about this issue soon and 3.10 will be here soon with fix form of such issues.

Where did you got the info that its a bug with wp? Usually this comes from a bug report, and in such cases, patches are created that you can apply to your website without waiting for the update.
If the info about the bug doesn’t refer a bug report/ticket, then I’ll recommend you to follow my steps so we can isolate the issue, to see exactly where it comes, if its wp … we can make a patch and fix it!

Ok, I deactivated all plugins and the theme and it still doesn’t work.

The info about the bug is from a friend who googled my problem, she read it somewhere.

Guys please help me, I can´t blog anymore 🙁

So, if everything was deactivated it is obviously WP itself isn’t it? What can I do?

I’m sorry to hear you still got this issue.
Only one thing is clear at this point: the issue is not caused by the plugins or the active theme.
I searched for a bug report about this and didn’t found anything, I am able to upload photos… this makes me think at your setup to be problematic… can you check the upload folder permissions?
    like it’s recommended here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions#Using_an_FTP_Client
Also can you check your disk space? make sure it’s not full!
I’ll wait for you to get back with this.

    Hi there,

Thanks for the advise. I still have 0.5 GB space. Just checked with my hoster.

Regarding folder permissions. I dont do anything at my FTP as I am a total IT nerd. There can´t be anything wrong, as I don´t touch it at all.

I just use the WP backend to publish articles, thats it :/

I asked my friend where she got the info from that there is a bug in WP. She refers to this link:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/media-uploader-wont-work-after-wp-39-upgrade

The topic you referenced does not indicate any bug in WordPress 3.9. Only someone with a site specific issue.

yeah ok…anyone an idea what i can try next 🙁

    Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

I did the first 2, yes.

anything like FTP, PhPMyAdmin, etc. are too much for me, i have no idea about that stuff 🙁

    just found this:
    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/http-error-on-media-upload-wp-39?replies=16

not exactly same issue, but do you think that plugin could solve it in my case as well?!

i can work with plugins or anything I can do in the backend, but there is my limit already.

    unfortunately
