Photo Club WP Sites

I am looking for any photography clubs that are using WP as their CMS. Our club here in Virginia Beach has been using Droopal, but it is horrible, and the members who created it for us have moved away, etc. With no docs or other support info, it is becoming a web eyesore!

We plan to have forums, subscribe/pay for memberships and events using PayPal, and maybe a photo gallery. S2 is something I have been looking at for that aspect, but I am open to suggestions!

I would appreciate links back to sites, and, hopefully, you won’t mind sharing some of your WP site secrets. I am still learning this software, so please, bear with me if i stumble or ask a stupid question. This is vastly different from running a BBS (yea, I’m old school – Wildcat! BBS)

Mingle http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mingle/ is another social plugin that work very well with WP and for a simple forum you have Mingle Forum http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mingle-forum/

Event espresso http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/event-espresso-free/ is a plugin that I have found works well, but! the free version is lacking in a few areas, I upgraded to the pr version and it works as well as can be hoped.

Wildcat huh? RA BBS here 🙂 and yeah hehehe nothing like the old BBS systems 🙂

Thank you both, the info you have given has been very helpful! I am heading up to Barnes & Noble to try and find a book to really help me learn WP; I have the Sams 10 minute book, but I am still mystified; hopefully, I will find something better today.

Thanks for mention my site [link moderated] on using wordpress. I have been using wordpress for 6 years. My site designed by many webmasters spent much money to hire them too, when they move away my site gone, did not know how to fix or update.

WordPress is a great machine to help your site professional look. Choose the right theme. There are many plugin easy installation. I use si contact form for booking, then url direct to paypal payment page that closing sale online quickly.

Now I am a wordpress webmaster myself.
