Personal webpage and blog on science, photography, art, etc
-
Hello,
I am a scientist, microscopist/photographer, and consultant, and I started this personal/business site a few months ago to showcase my work in these areas (kevinjcarpenter.com). Also, a collection of my images was recently placed on permanent display at the Exploratorium (science museum) in San Francisco. The figure legend at the Exploratorium includes my web address in case people are interested in learning more about the images/organisms. I also have a blog, but am finding difficulty finding the time and energy to post very often.
I know nothing about html, Dreamweaver (although I frequently use Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator) and the like, and was relieved to find that WordPress is so easy to use for the first-time web designer.
I am happy with the overall look of the page, and soon will add more features.
It seems that the only blog comments I have received so far are spam, and it also seems that very few people know about the website yet. One colleague who is very knowledgeable on web design told me that I would greatly increase traffic if I started a Facebook business page and got connected to or “liked” by other relevant pages. I have been avoiding FB for years, but I guess it is now time to take the plunge…
Any comments/suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Kevin
