I can't Personal Fundraiser & MailChimp to work together. It seems to be sending all emails to me and not the donor or creator of the campaign. Also the custom fields are no being filled. Below are copies of the emails I received.

    Hey there!

WIth the information provided, we were able to pull up your account to have a peek. It appears that the campaign is only going to a few people that are on the list. You'll want to make sure that the subscribers have been uploaded to MailChimp before sending. We've got a pretty helpful article, here:

How do I create and import my list?: http://eepurl.com/gOH5

With regard to the merge tags, it appears that they aren't being formatted correctly. Instead of "FNAME" "LNAME", you'll want to use this syntax:
    *|FNAME|* *|LNAME|*
For more information on that, check out our guide on getting started with merge tags:

Getting Started with Merge Tags: http://eepurl.com/cjSwb

If you're new to the whole email marketing thing, our Getting Started guide might also be helpful! And it's free:

If you do have any other questions, we'd definitely encourage you to come chat with one of our live operators. Chats are open from 8AM - 8PM EST:

The Personal Fundraiser plugin never sends emails to the donors. It should only be sending them to the creator of the fundraisers. PayPal will send an email to the donors. Additionally you need to make sure that the list(s) associated with the emails have the proper merge fields in them. Here are the fields that need to be defined for each of the emails:

Campaign Approval Email ID The MailChimp campaign id of the transactional campaign to use to send campaign approved emails. The following merge fields are passed:

    • NAME The display name of the user who created the campaign.
    • CAMP_TITLE The title of the campaign.
    • CAMP_URL The URL for the campaign.

    Campaign Donation Email ID
The MailChimp campaign id of the transactional campaign to use to send campaign donation emails. The following merge fields are passed:

    • NAME The display name of the user who created the campaign.
    • CAMP_TITLE The title of the campaign.
    • CAMP_URL The URL for the campaign.
    • DONATE_AMT The amount donated.
    • DONOR_ANON If the donation was an anonymous donation, this value will be "true".
    • DONOR_FNAM Donor's first name (if not an anonymous donation).
    • DONOR_LNAM Donor's last name (if not an anonymous donation).
    • DONOR_EMAL Donor's email(if not an anonymous donation).

Goal Reached Email ID The MailChimp campaign id of the transactional campaign to use to send an email when the campaign goal is reached. The following merge fields are passed:

    • NAME The display name of the user who created the campaign.
    • CAMP_TITLE The title of the campaign.
    • CAMP_URL The URL for the campaign.
    • GOAL_AMT The goal that was reached.

Thank you for the help. It is not sending the campaign approvals email to the creator of the campaign. Syntax for the fields past is *|field|* is this correct?

Syntax for the fields passed is indeed *|field|*.

I think I know what may be going on. When people create fundraisers, do you collect their email address? I just checked the sample cause and it does not collect an email address. That email address is needed in order for the personal fundraiser plugin to know who to send the email to.

To add an email field, you first have to go to the personal fundraiser settings screen (Admin Dashboard, Select Personal Fundraiser from menu) and click on Add New Field at the bottom of the screen.

At the bottom of the screen you will see a list of fields defined for the personal fundraiser plugin. At the bottom of the list, click on the link titled "Add New Field". You will then get a blank row to fill out. You will need to fill out the following information:

    • Label -- The text that will display to the left of the actual field so that users know what to use the field for.
    • Description -- Additional text that will display under the field. This field is optional.
    • Type -- The type of field to display to the user. In the case of an email address, select User Email from the drop down
    • Required -- Check this checkbox if you want to require users to fill out this field.
    • Shortcode -- This non editable field displays the shortcode that you will need to use to display the email on the campaigns.
    • Actions -- This field contains links that allows you to delete the field and move it up or down in the order that the fields are displayed to a user when they create a campaign.

Once you have created new field(s), you will need to click on the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of the screen.

Once the field has been defined, you will have to add it to the cause so that campaigns created from it collect the user's email address. Since the email address is something you most likely don't want to display on the campaigns, you can hide it by editing the cause, clicking on the "HTML" tab in the cause editor and adding the following at the top:
    <!-- [pfund-email] -->
(Where pfund-email is the shortcode created when you created the field).

I hope that makes sense. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

As far as who they are sent to, when you look at the listing of campaigns in the administrative Dashboard, who is the user that is listed for the campaign? Is that the user it is sending the email to? If you it to send to the campaign creator, you need to

    Thank you John.

I now have the form collecting email address. The problem is it still is not sending out the emails. I deleted all of the campains and added a new one and the email never went out. I made changes to the MailChimp campaigns and added all the required fields but nothing is being sent

I just double checked the code and realized that you also need to collect the name of the person who is creating the campaign. This is done via creating a new personal fundraising field using the "User Display Name" field (you can use the instructions above, just select "User Display Name" as the field type).

If you collect both the email and the personal fundraising field it will email to the collected email.
