• After upgrading from 1.5 to 2.02, in wp-admin I can access the Dashboard (index.php), but no other pages. Instead I get a message “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

The main page loads ok (http://auto-report.net/WordPress/) and I seem to be able to login, I just can’t access any pages in admin.

Attributes for all pages are the same (644), the directory is set as 755 and the database has my user level listed as “10”. What has gone wrong?

  • Can you access your database? It’s possible that you’ve lost administrative rights. Look in the usermeta table. If you’re an administrator, you should have [table prefix]user_level of 10 and [table prefix]capabilities of administrator.

I can’t find a capabilities field or a user_level field under usermeta. I do have a userlevel of 10 under “users”

Reloaded and upgarded again, now it works.

did you run the wp-admin/upgrade.php after installing the new version?

well cool – ignore my post!

Re: did you run the wp-admin/upgrade.php after installing the new version?
Here is where I am sure I messed up. I opened upgrade.php with IE without luck and then Dreamweaver which asked for directory names, passwords … all very confusing.
As a consequence, my site is up again after upgrade — with some minor errors, but I cannot get into admin via http://www.blog4.org . Any hints?

Simply put: The step by step install instructions are very clear up to the point installing via upgrade.php imho
