Permanent redirect [files at subdomain.domain1.com - blog at domain2.com] (8 posts)

    Evening all,

A friend of mine maintains the following website:

    http://exonianetwork.com/

As I understand it, he transferred files from one host to another during some downtime. Upon switching back, he now has a permanent redirect when trying to access wp-admin.

I offered to help out as I maintain countless WordPress sites but I cannot for the life of me resolve this issue.

    Files are located here:

    http://exonianetwork.jshd.co.uk

    But is also visible here:

    http://exonianetwork.com

I have tried literally everything that I can think of / find in these forums to do with the correct .htaccess set-up.

In pretty much all instances, the files remain visible on both domains but logging into wp-admin just results in an infinite loop... whether you go via exonianetwork.jshd.co.uk/wp-admin/ or exonianetwork.com/wp-admin/

Thoughts would be very much appreciated as this is driving me insane :)

To clarify "transferred files from one host to another" involved uploading on another friend's server, then updating nameservers with his domain host.

He then reverted to original nameserver settings, which brings us to where we are now.

I'm tempted to add exonianetwork.com to my own hosting to avoid any need for redirects but part of me wants to fix it in situ!

    FIXED

Turns out there was an ini.php file in the wp-admin folder.

Deleted that and everything now works.

OK. Turns out I got a little excited over nothing.

Deleting the PHP.ini file meant that I could access exonianetwork.com/wp-admin without the redirect error.

However, it is now impossible to log-in. Users are simply re-directed to the same page.

Re-installing PHP.ini results in the permanent loop error.

    Suggestions very much appreciated :)

    Hi,

I got nearly the same problem and I'm asking for help, too. Would really appreciate any kind of help or advise :)

First I had a website on http://sickdelusion.de/layonyayo which I wanted to give it's own main domain.
So I made layonyayo.com to the directory /layonyayo and then, after visiting layonyayo.com still ended up on sickdelusion.de/layonyayo in the browser adress field, I added a .htaccess to the root directory, containing the following:
    Redirect permanent /layonyayo http://layonyayo.com

Everything seemed to work perfectly, until I wanted to login into the dashboard. So I went to layonyayo.com/wp-login.php and wanted to login, but I'm getting this infinite loop, too... plus the password isn't asked to be safed by the browser and every field is empty again, when I'm redirected by this loop. If you know what I mean.

What do I need to do in order to be able to login into my dashboard again AND keeping layonyayo.com in the browser adress field at all times while browsing this website?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help!

    @Adam

    Try this: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL
    ("Edit wp-config.php")

    Worked for me.
