    Hi

I would like to keep an introductory paragraph about my site permanently at the top of my page, that always stays above the latest post.

    My site is:
    http://esllearningpod.com/

Is there a fairly easy way to do this?

    Thanks much,

    Tom

  2. You are running 2.6.5 so there are a couple of things you can try.

    1. Backup your database and existing WordPress files. This is always step one and many problems on this forum can be solved easily if only people did this.

You should do this before any upgrades or modifications; if you make any huge mistakes it's much easier to restore your blog than try to figure our what you broke 8 hours ago.

See http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and understand how to backup your files and database as well as being able to restore them.

    2. Add the introduction paragraph HTML and PHP code (maybe) to the index.php file of your theme.

If you are comfortable with both HTML and PHP then this is not too difficult, very difficult otherwise.

    3. Upgrade to version 2.7 and make your introduction post sticky.

Version 2.7 can make a post "sticky" with just a click and a save. It's easy and that post will remain on the top of your front page. I just tried it and it worked as it should. Just write up your intro paragraphs into a post and make it sticky.

If you want you can even use CSS to style it differently from the regular posts.

    Good luck.
