    hi,

something very weird is going on with my wordpress installation and permalinks.

i've read (imho) all the documentation for this. for what i understand, i have to activate permalinks in the wordpress settings and it will do one of the following:

    a) can't find/write to .htaccess and will printout the rewrite rules i should add manually
    or
    b) can find/write to .htaccess and does the changes by itself...

the problem is, i can change the permalink settings, the changes work, but i don't have a .htaccess file!!!! nowhere!!!
you might say i should be content with that, as it works, but i need .htaccess support for the podpress plugins (it's stat function).

i hope someone here can enlighten me :)

    br,
    Tobias

When you say "the changes work", you mean that the "pretty" permalinks are actually working?

Then I'm forced to tell you that you *do* actually have an .htaccess file. You just can't see it doing whatever you are doing. Make sure that your FTP client (or whatever else you use to view your site) is set to show hidden files.

Pretty permalinks cannot work on an Apache server without an .htaccess file.
