[resolved] Permalinks to 'pretty permalinks' with no page not found errors (3 posts)

I have looked for a solution to this problem and I am still confused with how to find a solution.

I want to change my permalink structures in the settings panel of my dashboard to create the 'pretty url' from the default setting. Problem is that when I change the setting, I now get the error that the page does not exist when the new pretty url is clicked.

I have a feeling I will have to do some redirects for my older posts, but when I posted a new post with the setting on the pretty url setting it still didn't work. Is there some root programing I will need to do? Is there just a simple way or plugin I can implement to make this all just fix itself?

    I thank you in advance.

There's some good troubleshooting tips over on Using_Pemalinks in the docs section. That'd be a good place to start.

    Random questions:
Are you hosted on a Linux server?
When you change Permalinks to something besides the Default, does your site's .htaccess file get updated?

    Hi Chris,

Thanks for the help, strange but, it seems to have worked itself out. It wasn't working at first but now everything works fine, maybe I was too quick to complain and should have waited for things to " catch up".

For the record, this blog is hosted on Linux and I believe the .htaccess was updated, since it's working now.

    Thank you for your time!
