Does anyone know how to fix this. When I choose the numeric structure for permalinks, my links all work, but the posts come up with the post id. I want them all to use the /%postname%/ custom structure, but when i set this in permalink setttings, my pages stop working, while my posts work fine.

You need check with your host if they mod_rewrite ON
