    Hey,

I am challenged by the fact that I did a new Multisite installation and now when I try to customize the “Pretty Permalinks” feature on the first blog that I created I always get the /blog/ prefix in front of all the custom permalinks I have the choice of creating.

I would really like to change this and have a directory structure of http://www.myurl.com/wordpress/post/ , instead of http://www.myurl.com/wordpress/blog/post/ etc..

I hope you do see my point of posting this message in this part of the forum. And I am certain their is a ridiculously simple explanation as well as a solution to my dilemma and conundrum.

On second thought, it could just be the theme that I have installed, that is causing it but I am not so sure. In any case, if you do know what is going on, please do reply with a definite answer!

  • It’s not the theme, it’s default behaviour for the main site in a network install. 😉

the reason it’s there is to prevent collisions between pages names and user blog names.

If you google for “remove /blog/ plugin” you’ll find loads of options.

Thank You, Andrea_R for such a quick reply.

I personally have been focusing on WordPress for years, but have not intensely dealt with Multisite before.

See you soon again on this forum, Robert

If you choose the subdomain network install, you will not face this problem.
