Permalinks, htaccess, widgets Internet Explorer & Chrome (5 posts)

I have a weird problem I need some help with...

I usually use Google Chrome, and my Blog works fine. Occasionally I have a problem with Internet explorer showing a 505 Error. I have found that 'refreshing' the permalinks usually helps. If that doesn't work, deleting the htaccess file - and then rebuilding the permalinks usually does the trick.

However this time around, I have ended up with the front page of the site showing up in Internet Explorer how I intended, and the other pages showing the 'Default' version i.e. without my widgets installed.

Needless to say - the site looks how I expected with Chrome.

This page is what I want:
    http://cadsetterout.com/

    This page is not!

    Any suggestions?

... I forgot to mention that if I log in using Internet explorer and rebuild the permalinks the site looks fine. As soon as I log out it goes t**s up again...

Logging in with Chrome and rebuilding the permalinks dosen't help...

    Have you tried:

    - deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    - switching to the Twenty Ten theme to rule out any theme-specific problems?

Thanks very much esmi. I have deactivated (and ultimately uninstalled) two troublesome plugins. Now I am back to my 'Normal' set up.

I will try out your suggestions - But what could be causing Internet explorer to see a different view on the Home page to the other pages and why does Chrome see it ok?

You've got 2 markup errors that might be contributing to the problem. Nothing wrong with your CSS validity-wise.

Some conditional comment CSS might help to reduce the issues in IE.
