Permalinks, .htaccess and import

    I am trying to export data from one site into a multisite version of that site, but running into a problem with the GUID values for all post_type= “page” or “post”

    On the original site, the pages in wp_posts show up in the form http://nw.mkp.org/?page_id=1020.

    When I use tools->export and then import the generated XML file, the guid values in wp_2_posts show up exactly the same: http://nw.mkp.org/?page_id=1020

    The page and post values in the multisite table point to the original site, not the current site, and to make things even more interesting, although published posts appear in the xml file, none make it into wp_posts.

    I am not at all clear what role .htaccess plays in this game.

    Can anybody help me sort this out?
