I have a page (not a post) that is named 2011, as well as previous years dating back to 2005. These seven pages, and only these seven, will automatically add a "-2" to indicate duplicate content when going to "Edit Page". This does not happen with any non-numerically name page such as "About" or "Events".
I know that no like-named images, pages, posts, galleries, etc., exist as I have checked the database tables as well as WordPress Pages/Posts/Trash/etc.
In order to reset the "-2" so that the permalink points to /events/2011/ instead of /events/2011-2/, I have to set the permalinks to the default and then set them back to category/post-name/ before it will work. However, any time I edit and save the page from the WordPress "Edit Page", the page automatically adds the "-2" again and I have to switch the permalinks back and forth. If I click Edit Page but do not save, it of course does not change it to the duplicate content name.
Since it is not occurring with other pages, I can only assume it has something to do with the numbers.
Has anyone come across this error? If so, did you figure out a way to edit the WordPress code NOT to do this anymore? It is quite annoying, to say the least.
Thanks in advance.
