Permalink url page increments, how do I reset?

    If I remove a page, say called blog.. then later decide to re-add it, the permalink url show as xxx.com/blog-2 and wont let me rename it..

    How can I completely remove any references to the old deleted pages, so the url is .com/blog again?

    A) If you really are trying to use “blog” as your permalink, you might not be able to do so, as that can be a reserved word in some instances.
    B) Have you checked and emptied the Trash? As long as a page/post remains in the trash, you won’t be able to re-use its permalink/slug.
