Support » Fixing WordPress » Permalink Structure and 404 Error

  • Greetings all – loving wordpress…but
I have just recently changed my permalink structure to:
    /archives/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
and I copied/pasted the .htaccess code it gave me. The permalink works fine when the title is clicked or the category is clicked on, however – when the “read more” is clicked on, it gives me a “404 page not found” error. I figured out that what’s happening is – the links are supposed to be all lowercase, but when the read more is clicked on, some of the links are being capitalized – how do I bypass this so all the permalinks are showing as lowercase?
You can see it for yourself at my site http://www.alternativesoho.com/ – click on any of the “read more” s on the page to see what I’m talking about – then change the capitalized letters in the nav bar to lowercase and click go and you will get to the right page…
Thank you from a complete newbie – if I’m not clear enough, please let me know and I’ll try to explain it better.
    *Update*
I changed the post slugs to something other than the inital post title and this seems to have fixed the problem, but I am curious as to another solution so I don’t have to worry about whether or not this will affect me with future posts 🙂
