If you’re using the multisite feature, the following is from an article featuring Andrea_r (one of our resident multisite experts):
“There’s a /blog/ in my main blog. Why is it there and how do I remove it?”
Yes, this is done intentionally so any permalink off the main site does not interfere with any site name in a subfolder setup. You will not see this in a subdomain install.
You can remove it by editing the main site details under Super Admin -> Sites and editing the main site.
I actually like to use this to my advantage, and set up a home page for the whole network on the main site, and then use the /blog/ to be the “main” blog on the network.

thanks James! I actually just disabled the multi site feature because i realized it wasnt really what I needed for my site.
Maybe you can recommend something to me… I have this site blokmovaz.com and I would like it so people who comment/interact on our site can have their own profile page and display their own stats.
I was considering buddpress however it just seems to be totally different from what i currently am using my site for…
Thanks again

Actually, I think BuddyPress might be what you’re looking for, but I recommend asking the experts in the BuddyPress forums about that:
