Hello everyone. I am trying to figure out how to clean up my addresses.

I have many different categories and want their addresses to be like the example below.

    http://www.thesnobmag.com/fashion/1
    http://www.thesnobagm.com/autos/3

Basically, I want the address, then category, then the number of the post. Is there anyway to do this?

Also, I would like to do it for my main menu as well, like /home, /aboutus, /contactus, etc.

I thank you in advance. Here is my website address. http://www.thesnobmag.com

    Yes,

Make sure your .htaccess is writable (use windows commander / or whatever you use for upload). Right-click on .htaccess. You will have CHANGE ATTRIBUTES. Put there 777. When you are done put back 644. After that use your wordpress Admin panel -> Settings -> Permalinks. You have it all there. Change whatever you want however you want it.

I have had a non-wordpress site for years at http://www.example.com. I recently switched host services and re-built my site using wordpress. During the re-building I left my old site live on the original server and built the new site under the url (example) http://123.45.67.891/userid.

I completed the re-build and activated the new host with my url http://www.example.com but now my permalinks read like http://123.45.67.891/userid/pagename. Of course, I want them to read http://www.example.com/pagename.

    How do I correct this?

yes, thanks, that was a useful reply. After 3 tries with my host tech support the solution turned out to be modifying the htaccess file.

    the line in question was:

    RewriteRule . /userid/index.php [L]

which needed to be changed to:

    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
