So I'm using custom templates for my wordpress site, and instead of create a navigation bar via the wordpress template tags, I'm just hard-coding the permalink right into the kind of like my example. I have various static pages (yes i have the front page set as static) so my other pages should come up like: (or /contact or /blog) I'm pretty new to wordpress and I guess I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong?

im seeing a lot of tutorials and posts that just explain how to edit and create a custom permalink structure...but that's not my problem. im also seeing other tutorials and posts that say the .htaccess file could be to blame, or something called mod_rewrite...that sounds more like the problem im having i think
