Can anyone explain it to me more simple? Haha.
What do you want your links to look like?

When I type http://www.aboutjourney.org/beliefs it sends me to the right page but then it becomes http://www.aboutjourney.org/?page_id=46 in the URL area… that’s because I’m forwarding the address using my host site but I do not know how to change it where it always says /beliefs in the URL section up top where you type what website you want to go to.

These are the options I have in the permalink area:
Default http://www.aboutjourney.org/?p=123
Day and name http://www.aboutjourney.org/2011/12/05/sample-post/
Month and name http://www.aboutjourney.org/2011/12/sample-post/
Numeric http://www.aboutjourney.org/archives/123
When I choose the day and name option none of my links work anymore. How can I fix this?
Below the options, is there a message saying that WordPress cannot write to your .htaccess file?

I didn’t notice it before but yes. It says “If your .htaccess file were writable, we could do this automatically, but it isn’t so these are the mod_rewrite rules you should have in your .htaccess file. Click in the field and press CTRL + a to select all.” And then there’s a bunch of letters. What am I supposed to copy it to?
then you want this in the field:
%postname%
jcc11 – You need to MAKE a .htaccess file then 🙂
It’s simply a file named .htaccess (yep, that’s the whole name).
Use FTP or some file management program to make the file on your server, copy the ‘bunch of letters’, as you put it, into that file. Save. THEN try to use pretty permalinks 🙂

Ok. I will look into that. I’ve never done this but it can’t be too hard to figure out!
