    Hi,

    I read the topic on permalink troubles and I did follow all the suggestions but my site is still not working.

    History:
    my site is WP 2.6
    my server is Lynux and everything is set for allowrewrite on their end.
    my .htaccess is correct
    I changed to 'custom structure' using /%postname%/

    pages did not come up, error 404

    then I put text in 'category' and 'tag'

    same error 404
    (The requested URL /about/ was not found on this server. Apache/2.0.52 (Red Hat) Server at make-money-trading-currency-online.com Port 80)

    after going through on everything with my webhost he suggested the following: "my guess is the permalink requires a directive in the
    .htaccess file or apache configuration to allow the url to resolve"

    My question is: do I have to change something in my apache file or in my .htaccess file?

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    </IfModule>

    # END WordPress

    Please note, that I'm not a webmaster, if it's possible explain it to me as simple as possible.

    I did change the permalink setting back to default and that is why the site looks fine now.

    Thanks,
    Marianna
