Hello, i understand what are Permalinks and i would like to have links showing category name and post name.
    I mean...

    http://www.mysite.com/categoryname/postname

    I saw these tags:
    %category% and %postname%

I do not have an htaccess file in the root.
I'm going to create one... but what do i write in it?
    Please help me.

    Sorry for my english.

You don't need to write anything :)

    Open notepad
    Press the spacebar once
    Save the file as 'htaccess.txt'
    Upload that to root
    Change it's name to .htaccess
    Change it's permissions to 666

That's all there is too it :)

(The above applies to Linux servers not Windows servers)

    Thank you! Now it works.
Just a question: now i have links like http://www.mysite.com/category/postname
...is it possible to replace "category" with another word?

Have you tried different permalink structures?

You can try as many as you wish - but if you suddenly get a 500 error, use ftp and delete the .htaccess file.

I know but maybe you do not understand.

    Here is my site:

    http://www.v*rsionitradott*.it

As you can see there is Categories menu that i renamed as "Versioni".

Then i would like to see links like this one:
    http://www.v*rsionitradott*.it/versioni/postname/

    instead of
    http://www.v*rsionitradott*.it/category/abc/

    Is it possible?

    * = e

If you don't want the "catgeory, don't use the %category%. It's that simple.

In fact i'm not using it!

I'm using /versioni/%postname%/ as tags and the links are like this:

    /versioni/category/postname/

    :(

because it helps people see exactly what you're talking about... why are you so secretive about it if you're asking for our help?

if you're going to make US work to help you - you're going to find a hard time getting any support.

you came here for help, and we need certain information. if you don't want to share it, then i'm not sure what we can do to help you.

about your problem? maybe you'll get lucky and find someone who will go the extra mile and take all the walk arounds for you... good luck with that.

I do not want to make you work to help me.
    I need just help :(

I hide the URL of my site because if anyone will search for my site this topic will be shown first...
    Can you understand?

I own an SEO and Internet Marketing company... I completely understand your fears, however I'm here to tell you that when you do searches for any of the domains I've ever posted in the wordpress forums, the forums are the last thing to show up.

One little link in a forum is not going to jump to the top of the search engine results for you... I promise.

However reading back, I see that you solved the .htaccess issue - and you're looking to figure out how to change the word "category" to the word "versioni" - I'm personally not sure how to do that, although I think you should start a new thread for this new problem... people are seeing your title to this thread and thinking you need help with .htaccess files, not with changing the names of permalink defaults.

just change the category base to whatever you want. and i don't understand if you want to show people that you know it all, then why not set up a test system first and build your application before putting it up before the public!!!
