I'm attempting to get some dialog going in response to a blog post, but people complain that they are required to login first. Since I can moderate comments before they appear, there is no reason to require anyone to enter a password, and I don't know how to help them get registered even if that were desirable.
How can I turn off the login requirement they are seeing?

Thank you. In the WordPress help I see the checkbox for controlling whetehr users mlust be registered and logged in. However, I don't see how to access that screen (Discussion Settings) from the dashboard.
The Settings link is in your Admin menu on the left. Clicking it will open a sub-menu - of which Discussion is one of the items.

From the screen capture, looks like it's accessed from a "Settings" drop-down, which is just below "Tools." I don't seem to have that (WordPress 3.0.4). Appreciate your patience.
There is a Settings menu i WP 3.0.4. There's been a Settings menu since 2.8(?). Is this a self-hosted site or a wordpress.com site?
