[resolved] Pending Review Post becomes Homepage (6 posts)

I'm using WP version 2.6.2 and have come across a major bug or problem with the Pending Review post process.

A contributor put a post 'pending for review'
Admin logs in check post and publishes it.
Post publishes under contributors name (author id).
Post now becomes homepage too. When clicking on any home page links this post appears and not the actual homepage of the site. Homepage is not accessible at all

This has happened twice. Only with pending review posts. Other posts not put into the pending mode if published are fine.

ANYONE? Any help with this is badly needed as I do not know how to revert the homepage back.

In Administration > Settings > Reading, can you tell us how you have the A static page options set?

Hi, no I have it set to 'Latest Posts'

But since posting this problem, I went through some test with the help of WordPress IRC. This is what found.

    - htaccess needed to be set to 755
    - reset permalinks to default and then back to customised
    - deactivated all plugins
<<< the homepage began to work correctly >>>
    - switched on plugins 1 by 1
    - 'redirection' plugin when switched on caused the problem again.

So, it looks like the redirection plugin has some problem with 'pending posts' being published and hijacks the homepage with the post published via this process.

So, now will be looking at alternatives to the re-direction plugin. Any ideas on how I can re-direct a few pages and maybe not need the plugin at all?

    The plugin is:

I have now posted a post on the author's homepage forum here:

I am awaiting a response. The problem is a record that gets created in his wp_redirection_items table redirecting the '/' page to the published post (via the pending process) automatically for some reason.

I will look at these other plugins you have given links for.

This was a problem with automatic post redirections due to changes in newer versions of WordPress. It's now been fixed in version 2.0.7
