I just installed WordPress and am learning to use it. I have never done anything like this before so most of the language is pretty new to me.

Here is the problem that I am running into. I have uploaded the PDF into the media gallery. I linked it to my page, but when I try to view it on the test site I get this error.

( ! ) Catchable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in C:\wamp\www\testsite\wp-content\themes\responsive\includes\functions.php on line 452

    2 0.0029 369072 require( ‘C:\wamp\www\testsite\wp-blog-header.php’ ) ..\index.php:17
    3 0.5774 21730168 require_once( ‘C:\wamp\www\testsite\wp-includes\template-loader.php’ ) ..\wp-blog-header.php:16

    5 0.7503 21908104 responsive_breadcrumb_lists( ) ..\single.php:31

I am running Wampserver. I don’t know if that makes a difference. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Have you edited the theme in any way? You could try uploading a fresh copy of the theme’s folder to wp-content/themes.

Pardon my ignorance, but where would I get a fresh copy? Do I just download it again?

Yes, just download the theme again.

Still having the same problem, but I browsed the forum and figured it would be best to repost my question at themeid.com since I am using the responsive theme. Thank you for your help!

I would be really surprised if an unedited copy of this theme was causing the problem. If you have not edited the theme yourself, I can only guess that you have a corrupt copy.

Drop a fresh, unpacked, copy of the theme’s folder into wp-content/themes. You can download the theme via http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/responsive

What happens if you switch to the Twenty Twelve theme?

    It works perfectly.

Are you using the latest version of the Responsive theme?

Another thought – what version of PHP are you running locally?

I am using the latest version of responsive. PHP version is 5.3.13

I re installed the responsive theme twice. Once by getting it from the link on the wordpress site, and again following your link and instructions.

I’ve pinged the theme’s developer about this one. It’s got me baffled.

    Hi,

There is a great page to upload PDFs and then you can link it on your page.
The name of the page is http://www.yumpu.com
