PDF Thumbnail Generation, Revisited

Wondering if there are any plans to allow this to generate PDF image thumbnails? Saw this thread here — http://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-imagemagick-engine-pdf-cover-page-thumbnail-generation?replies=3 — but it was closed. I’m looking for something like this, too.
