About a month ago, I activated recurring billing with my PayPal Pro account, and I’ve since experienced some strange behavior. First, I’m noticing that it seems as many as 1 out of 2 profiles result in a credit card declined status. When I was selling subscriptions through PayPal Express Checkout for months before this, the amount of declined transactions was nowhere near what it is now.

A clue to understanding this might be that, in PayPal Manager, when I filter my profiles by cancelled or deactivated, there are none other than my test profiles. I’ve tested everything on my end of the system. I have the s2member cancel billing button easily accessible to my users, which I’ve tested, and it’s working fine (at least for people who pay with credit cards; it’s actually not working for PayPal users, which I’ve addressed in another topic and am stilling waiting for a response on; this could be related to the problem, actually). But unlike before, when users would frequently cancel during their trial periods, suddenly no one has cancelled in the last month (unheard of), but instead, I’m getting all of these “declined” statuses, and I’ve also gotten a few unhappy customers filing “unauthorized transaction” or “item not received” disputes, which I’d never gotten before. I realize that there may not be a simple answer to all of this, but there’s clearly something wrong.

Second, even after payments have been declined, the users are retaining their s2member level 1 statuses, and I’ve even noticed some customers logging in after the decline date, which seems to suggest that the decline wasn’t actively initiated on their part. Anyway, thie problem is giving users free service. I’m so confused. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
