[resolved] Paypal error: An error has occured and your payment has failed. Please try again (24 posts)

I am the person who created the page with the Camptix plugin, and am the only one out of 3 people who tested the page that received this error message. That leads me to believe there was an issue with my Paypal account's linked bank account, or something, but that does not appear to be the case.

When I run the transaction through my cc (without paypal), it goes through fine, so at least I know to focus on my paypal account...from what I can tell, since the other's transactions went through fine, there is only an issue on my side.

    Any suggestions?

Hi John, that's a generic error message, so in order to troubleshoot the problem we need to figure out what specifically is going on.

Can you find the corresponding Attendee post and look at the CampTix Meta Log metabox, then click on the "data" link for any relevant entries, and then copy/paste them into a pastebin and link to them here?

Make sure you redact any sensitive information about your server/transaction/etc before posting it here.

Hi there, I am getting the same error "A payment error has occurred, looks like chosen payment method is not responding. Please try again later." when I try to checkout. I've had three persons use the plugin and now it won't proceed. I've double checked my API credentials.

Hi jknz, please see my reply above to John. There's no way for me to help you without that info.

I had that problem as well.
    It is fixed now.
All you have to do is to uncheck the Sandbox Mode mode from "Yes" to "No".

Hope it works for you all.

Either here or email...one more thing before I go.
You must have an "active" paypal account for this plugin to work.

It seems to be working fine for me. Did you find a solution? If so, please post it here to help anyone else who may run into the same problem, and to help us fix any bugs in the plugin that may have contributed to it.

I have followed all of the instructions above, and I am still getting this error! API signature details have been accurately entered and sandbox mode is off. Any ideas???

elliotpress, the log you just posted contains sensitive information. you need to change your paypal password and api credentials immediately.

I just removed it - just saw Ian's post - but it'd already been up for 12 minutes - so likely already indexed widely.

So definitely get those credentials changed ASAP :)!

elliotpress, the relevant info from the logs was this line:

http_request_failed Failed to connect to 173.0.84.69: Permission denied

That means your server couldn't connect to PayPal's API. I'd ask your hosting provider if they can figure out why, since that's probably something on their end.

    Hi tapandesai,
This may sound like a stupid question, did you double and triple check your Paypal API credentials. Login to your Paypal account, maybe if you copied and pasted your credentials you failed to copy everything.

    Please check again your:
    Paypal API Username
    Paypal API Password
    Paypal API Signature

Please don't list any of your Paypal credentials here.

    Hi WDjoe,

I already tripled checked everything but it was not working.

    Hi Iann,

I configured everything correctly but it was not working. And then next morning, it was working perfectly. I don't know how it was fixed automatically

    Ian and WPyogi,

I am an idiot--thank you for alerting me to my misstep and removing the sensitive information. Changed my PayPal password and reset my API credentials; fortunately, no harm seems to have been done.

Ian, your suggestion to look into my hosting provider was spot on. Upon accessing my host's control panel, I saw that several outgoing connections to PayPal had been blocked. After whitelisting the IP addresses, the plugin is working! THANK YOU FOR THE ASSISTANCE!!!

Any ideas on why this occurred? There are about 25 other outgoing connections that have also been blocked, and I have no idea what these are (or whether I should whitelist them or not).

Glad to hear it's working again and that no damage was done :)

I can't think of any reason why they'd block those connections, unless maybe they've had problems with hackers signing up for accounts and using them to attack PayPal or something. The only way to know for sure would be to contact them.
