   Love this plugin - but I'd like to offer the user to choose what they want to pay. I'd be happy to let them pay $3 but if they'd want, they could pay $50 if they like my site.

   Hi. For this purposes you can use Donate & Download plugin.

   Technically, yes. But Donate buttons in Paypal is only for fundraising ONLY if you want to follow the PayPal rules:
   https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cmd=_donate-intro-outside
   "This button is intended for fundraising. If you are not raising money for a cause, please choose another option."

   There are plenty of cases where PayPal has shutdown accounts if you're not a registered fundraisers. See for example:

   Thanks for letting me know. I didn't know that. Will replace "Donation" button by regular button.
