Hi, that looks like a generic server problem with the plugin upgrade process. You should probably just try to download it again.

I’m trying to upgrade using the Update Plugin page in the WP admin interface. Doesn’t work at all. Every time I try it it fails.

Plugin could not be deleted due to an error: Could not fully remove the plugin(s) paypal-donations/paypal-donations.php.

Great, can’t upgrade it, can’t delete it. I guess I should try this all manually through ftp, which is a pain I hoped to avoid.

I tried upgrading from 1.7 to 1.8 merely by overwriting files via manual ftp upload. That failed as well. The 1.8 folder was in the WP plugins folder, but the plugins admin interface still registered the version as 1.7.

I had to manually delete the Paypal plugin 1.7 folder and then upload the 1.8 version folder. Of course in doing so I lost all the settings I’d configured in version 1.7.

    Really disappointing behavior.

    1. The update process is outside the control of a plugin and indicates a problem with your server if it is not working.

If you can’t neither update or delete, it definitely sounds like the permissions on your server is not configured correctly.

    2. The settings are stored in the database, not in the plugin files. So if you manually delete the plugin, it’s impossible for the settings to get lost, so you must have made another user error.

You need to contact your service provider if you have technical problems or try one of the free plugins with similar functionality if you believe the plugin is the problem.
