    Hi,
I’m running WP 2.6.1. When I attempt to post anything and add an image to it, as in I go to write, write my post, then under media, follow the link to upload an image, I get the following error:
Unable to create directory /home/user4026/public_html/wp-content/uploads/2009/01. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
The problem is, the server I am on has no directory called home. The directory is called home1 and not home.
is there anyway I can fix this path mismatch?
I was told I had to fix it by going to a table inside my wordpress database, according to my host. However, I see no pathnames in any tables unless I am missing something.
Thanks for any help that anyone may be able to provide me.

  • home just means the home directory on your server.
    it looks like “/.”
Is this a new install of WP 2.6.1?
Check and make sure the root folder is writable. 755

    Hi,

You just need to ask you hosting provider to grant 777 recursive permissions to wp-contents folder which will resolve the problem.

    Hi all,
I did as was said, allowing 777 to wp-content and still get the same error.
This is an imported wordpress from another server. The other server had what wordpress was referring to, a directory called home. On this new server, however, the directory has a 1 in it, like home1/username.
I think what I may try and do is reinstall wordpress to see where that goes since I’m not sure of what else to do. IF anything, I will post the results of the reinstallation.

A complete reinstall of WP fixed the problem. I exported the XML of the posts, pages, categories, etc, reinstalled from a fresh copy of WP, and it fixed the image upload issue.
    Thanks all for the help.
