Passwords & Registering

I have aprox 20 people registered on my site , but none have received a initial password email ??. Is there anything I need to do as an administrator to approve registeration ??. Cannot see any links ?. I dont have any restricted areas on the website as yet so is this the reason the passwords are not going out ,??.
