So, I tried typing in my email address into the box and I get this message, after clicking they key wordpress sends:

Sorry, that key does not appear to be valid

What can I do? I have access to my server / FTP is there anything I can download to get my password, or any files I can overwrite to fix the key hasher thing??

    Thanks.

  • ok do you have access to you mysql database, if you do than you can check the email that is used for the user admin which should be ID 1 in the _users table

Thank you for your help. The problem wasn’t the email, it was actually the key. I changed my key in the SQL database, and entered my new key.

That actually worked, and solved the problem.

Phew! Well I hope this helps someone in the future anyway!

Where in your SQL database did you change the key? And did you change anything else, like the function from blank to ASCII or something else? I’m having this problem with WordPress 2.8.1.

Well first off this is for 2.5.

Anyway the area that you change the key is the _users table.
