• I am really having a problem figuring this out and pray someone can help.
I have a menu item called Group Section ( which is a custom menu item with a hash sign as the url so it does not direct to another page when selected ). Under it is a password protected page called Files/Docs.

I would like to have this page viable to everyone but have it password protected. I cannot seem to get this working as if I select it for password protection, the menu page item disappears unless I am logged in.

There must be a way so that one does not need to logged in ( have special access ) in order to view a password protected page ?
I just want to avoid having users sign in just to view a page. I would rather they just enter one password to unlock the page.

Is there a plugin that is recommended for this ?
Please be kind with suggestions as I am fairly new. Thank you,

Also this plugin out, it’s kinda outdated, but it might work:

Thank you but unfortunately that does not help me.

I know how to apply a password to a page and only need 1 page protected. The problem is that I want everyone to see the page in the menu but when they click on the menu item, the password screen come up on the page before it can be viewed.
This works find if I am logged in as admin. But one I log off, the menu item, that being the page that is protected, disappears.
I do not want my members to have to log in special just to see the page.

I have tried multiple ways but every time I set the page to password and add it to the menu, it requires a certain access level to see it there and thus why as admin I can view it in the menu.. At least that is how I see it working…

I see. If the disappearing menu item is the problem, why not create it using “Custom Links”? You just need to insert the whole URL like:

    http://yourdomain.com/the-protected-page

so it won’t get affected, and works for everybody, regardless of the login/logout status.

Are you trying to do something like I’ve done on my site ?
    http://www.skinnskattebergssmabatsklubb.se/

Pages under menu choise Medlemssidor are all protected by a password which members can get from me.

All of those are normal pages and all of them have password protection except the one in the top menu.

Maybe the problem lies with your

menu item called Group Section ( which is a custom menu item with a hash sign as the url so it does not direct to another page when selected )

Thank you.. I fixed the problem.
Ricke59 and wpthemes777, yes.. that is what I wanted.
Not sure why it did not work except maybe it was dues to a plug in that I was trying for page security. All is fine now. Thank you all for your support.
