• Hello,

Does anyone know how to apply a single password to protect all posts within a specified category?

I know I can password protect individual posts, but I’d much rather password protect an entire category – eg a ‘client only’ area…

I have tried a few of the available plug-ins but none seem to work very well.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

Password protected categories would be a very welcome feature. This plugin does not support a password protect Category. But it protect category & pages on a user-by-user basis.

Posts in a protected category or pages will not be visible unless the user has privileges to view that category or pages.

    Thanks Shane,

I’ll give it a whirl… Would’ve thought password protected categories would be something lots of people asked for…!?

    it is!

I’m looking for a way to do the same and I agree, it seems like this would be a much requested feature.

I’d like to be able to let my authors create a post and add it to a password-protected post category. Then I could link that category page to one of my menus and the user would be prompted to enter a password to view that page of posts.

I’m trying to do this just like the current password-protected pages and posts feature works, but for a category. I don’t want or need users to have to register using the standard WordPress user feature. Just need a single password protected category.

I tried creating a password protected page using the built-in WordPress method and then added code to pull in a category to that page but didn’t work. Not to mention my posts which are not individually protected, would show up in search results.
